During a season when schedules are written in pencil, not ink, changes are ahead for the Callaway and Troup football teams.

Troup was supposed to play Carver this week, but the game has been postponed because of Covid-19 issues on the Troup football team.

Troup has suspended all football activities for the week, and that includes Friday’s scheduled game at Carver.

The Carver game has been re-scheduled for Nov. 21, and that will be Troup’s third game during an eight-game stretch.

Troup won’t play again until Nov. 13 when it faces the rival LaGrange Grangers, and it will play a road game against Jordan on Nov. 17 before closing the regular season against Carver.

So Troup will play LaGrange on a Friday, Jordan on a Tuesday, and then Carver on a Saturday to finish the regular season.

Troup (4-3 overall) is 4-1 in Region 2-AAAA, and all three of its remaining regular-season games are against region opponents.

Callaway, meanwhile, has settled on a new date for its now twice re-scheduled game with Haralson County.

Callaway was supposed to play Haralson County last week, but the game was postponed when Callaway High closed because of Covid-19 concerns at the school, and all extra-curricular activities were suspended.

Following a meeting of Region 5-AA officials, the Callaway and Haralson game was re-scheduled for Tuesday of this week, but that plan had to be scuttled because Haralson County High announced on Sunday that its school was closing for two days.

So after another meeting of region officials, the plan is for Callaway and Haralson County to play on Nov. 10 in Tallapoosa at 7 p.m.

Callaway’s game with Temple on Nov. 13 has been pushed back one day to Nov. 14.

Callaway closes the regular season against Heard County on Nov. 20 at Callaway Stadium.

This week’s game against Bremen, scheduled for Friday, will go on as planned.

All four of the remaining regular-season games for Callaway (4-0) are against region opponents.

Also this week, LaGrange (4-2 overall) will puts its 3-1 Region 2-AAAA record on the line when it hosts Jordan on Thursday.

Lafayette Christian (3-1) will host Flint River Academy on Friday in its region opener. Lafayette Christian has been off for three weeks.
