COLUMBUS – The Troup Tigers outlasted Carver 64-62 in an overtime thriller on Tuesday night in Columbus.

Troup, after dropping its first three Region 2-AAAA games, has beaten Kendrick and Carver to improve to 2-3 in the region.

Troup (7-8 overall) can even its region record with a home win over LaGrange on Friday, and it closes the regular season with region games against Shaw and Jordan next week.

Tuesday’s game was tied 55-55 at the close of regulation, and Troup outscored Carver 9-7 in overtime to earn thewin.

“We ended the game with a bunch of seniors on the floor diving around, fighting and clawing,” said Troup head coach Blake Craft. “Zy Varner made a huge dive on the ground down the stretch to get us the ball back. Those 50-50 players were huge, and there were seniors out there making them.”

Tre Scott led the Tigers with 16 points, KJ Tucker added 13 points, and Nick Philpot and Gabe Stepp had 10 and eight points, respectively.
