It’s tournament time.

The Region 2-AAAA basketball tournament will get underway on Tuesday, and the top four finishers on the boys’ and girls’ sides will qualify for the state tournament that starts next week.

Among the participants are the boys’ and girls’ teams from LaGrange and Troup, and Columbus, Jordan, Kendrick, Spencer, Carver, Shaw and Hardaway will also participate.

The teams that make it through to Friday’s semifinal games will advance to the state tournament.

The Troup Lady Tigers are the tournament’s number one seed, and they won’t play until the semifinals on Friday.

The Troup Tigers are seeded third on the boys’ side, and they’ll play on Thursday with a spot in the semifinals and the state tournament on the line.

The LaGrange Grangers are the number seven seed, and they’ll play eighth-seeded Columbus on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to play Troup on Thursday.

If LaGrange beats Columbus, that would set up a rematch with Troup after the two teams played an overtime thriller on Feb. 5. Troup got a game-tying 3-pointer from KJ Tucker at the buzzer before winning 59-54 in overtime.

The LaGrange Lady Grangers are also a number six seed, and they’ll play Spencer on Wednesday, with the winner moving on to the next round to face second-seeded Carver on Thursday.
