The City of LaGrange recently kicked off its “Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It” at Jones Street Park on Saturday.

Nearly 60 volunteers helped pick up litter around the neighborhood and spread mulch around the playground, placed pine straw around bushes and trees, planted trees at Jones Street Park. The Bell Line community, LaGrange College and the LaGrange Fire Department were partners for this month’s event.

City Manager Meg Kelsey began the litter cleanup campaign in April 2018 hoping to send a message to the community that the City of LaGrange is serious about cleaning up the community.

The initial event was successful, and the city decided to begin hosting monthly litter pickups. The city’s monthly cleanups are family-friendly, free and open to the public. The city provides safety vests, trash bags and gloves.
