The storm that prompted tornado warnings from the National Weather Service early Saturday morning did contain an EF1 tornado.

The weather service released storm damage survey reports today that rated the storm an EF1 with peak winds of 90 miles per hour. The path was about 5.6 miles long and 200 yards wide at its maximum point.

The weather service said the tornado touched down at 8:49 a.m. just west of Interstate 85 and crossed near mile marker 13, where trees were snapped and a metal building had part of its roof pulled up and a garage door blown in. The tornado headed northeast with damage reported near the Walmart Distribution Center and moreĀ  uprooted trees. The tornado lifted near Upper Big Springs Road at 9:02 a.m.
