LaGRANGE — Three people were injured in a head-on collision Wednesday morning when a pickup truck and a sedan crashed in the 3000 block of Hogansville Road.

The 67-year-old driver of a Mercedes Benz C280 was taken to West Georgia Medical Center by ambulance and a 42 year old who was driving a Ford F-150 was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Atlanta, according to Trooper 1st Class Brad Turner of Georgia State Patrol post 2.

A 33 year old who was a passenger in the F-150 was taken by ambulance to a Columbus hospital, Turner added. There were no passengers inside the Mercedes. All of the victims were men. Their conditions were unavailable at press time today.

The Mercedes was traveling south on Hogansville Road and appeared to have crossed the center line before impact, Turner said. Firefighters used saws and hydraulic equipment to cut the Mercedes’ frame and pry the console forward to free the trapped driver.

Emergency workers shut down Hogansville Road for about an hour as they worked to rescue the driver of the Mercedes and investigate the wreck.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck. Members of the Troup County Fire Department, Troup County Sheriff’s Office and LaGrange Fire Department assisted in the rescue.
