A plane safely completed an emergency landing in a Meriwether County field on Thursday.

According to Troup County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Stewart Smith, local officials were warned by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the plane would potentially attempt the landing within five miles of the LaGrange-Callaway Airport. TCSO deputies searched for the plane but were alerted the plane had safely landed in Meriwether County.

The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the plane had landed in a field and no injuries were reported. The plane landed shortly before 10:40 a.m. Thursday morning.

The pilot reported losing power to his plane, so he landed in a field off of the 3100 block of Wallace Road north of Pine Mountain.

The name of the pilot or details of the issue that forced the emergency landing have not been released by the FAA.
