GSP: SUV going wrong way causes head-on wreck
LaGRANGE – The Georgia State Patrol said two people were killed and two people were injured after an SUV that law enforcement officials said was driving the wrong direction in the northbound lane of Interstate 185 Thursday night collided head on with another SUV.
According to GSP, the two victims killed were in a red SUV that officials believe was struck by another SUV that was driving the wrong direction in the northbound lane. Officials said the victims were the driver and rear passenger of a red SUV, the make and model of which was unavailable this morning.
The front-seat passenger of the red SUV was flown to Atlanta Medical Center and was listed i
n critical condition this morning, according to GSP officials.
The driver of the alleged wrong-wayvehicle, which law enforcement at the scene identified as a white Toyota Sequoia, was also flown out.
GSP officials said he is being treated at Grady Hospital and his condition was unavailable at press time.
Another vehicle ran off the road trying to avoid the crash scene, according to a GSP preliminary report. One occupant in that car sustained minor injuries. The names of the victims had not beenreleased this morning, pending notification of the family.
The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was investigating wreck.
