Employees at Walmart on New Franklin Road called LaGrange officers after they said a woman tried to leave the store about noon Thursday with more than $500 in merchandise.
Sheneka DeAnn Mack, 27, whose address was unavailable, is accused of trying to leave the store with a cart full of items that included bathroom towels, shower curtains, tooth brush holders, rugs, shower, mats, fragrances, beauty care products, children’s shampoo, pots, pans and clothing. Managers of the store said they stopped Mack after allegedly seeing her walk past the scanning counters.
Officers reported that they also found sunglasses, more beauty care products and kids’ shampoo in Mack’s purse.
Police said Mack’s criminal history showed she has two prior convictions. She was arrested and taken to the Troup County Jail. Mack is charged with felony theft by shoplifting because of the value of merchandise.
LaGrange Police Department officers responding to a fight about 10 p.m. Thursday ended up finding a male hiding near Alford and Ashton streets who allegedly had drugs in his pocket.
Police spoke with one of the fight victims, then went to the house where the incident allegedly occurred. When one of the officers walked up to the home, they noticed some movement around the side of the house.
According to the report, one person took off running, but the officer caught a second person trying to hide.
An officer reported that he found a plastic bag containing less than an ounce of suspected marijuana in the suspect’s pocket.
He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Stepson allegedly punches stepdad
A youth allegedly punched his stepfather in the mouth about 10 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Borton Street because he asked for the wrong lottery numbers, according to an LPD police report.
The stepfather told officers he was explaining to his wife that the clerk at the store made the error on his lottery slip, when his stepson started screaming at him. The victim told police the youth then punched him in the mouth and ran out the back door.
Officers issued a warrant for the stepson’s arrest. He faces a charge of misdemeanor battery under the Family Violence Act.
