LaGRANGE — A Manchester man is refusing to cooperate with LaGrange police and detectives after he claims he was robbed in LaGrange on Wednesday night and cut with some type of sharp object.
An official at the Warm Springs Medical Center alerted LaGrange Police Department to a patient who came into the emergency room claiming he was stabbed “in the projects behind the LaGrange Walmart,” according to police.
The victim reportedly had a minor cut to the abdomen and some contusions to his face. According to the police report of the incident, he was treated and released.
LPD officers attempted to talk to the victim, who told them he came to LaGrange with a friend, parked at Taco Bell and went for a walk down Mitchell Avenue. The victim said near North Greenwood Street they encountered three males and one punched him.
According to police, the victim said he was beat up and in the process one of the robbers went through his pockets and stole an undisclosed amount of money and cut his stomach.
The man told the officers his friend fled the scene, and the victim returned to his car and drove to the hospital in Warm Springs.
Lt. Dale Strickland, head of the LPD Criminal Investigation Section, said the victim is refusing to cooperate any further and did not want to make a police report.
Strickland said the case was assigned to a CIS detective who will investigate the incident further.
