LaGrange woman awakened by burglars

A LaGrange woman told police she was sleeping in her home Wednesday afternoon in the 1400 block of Murphy Avenue when she was awakened by the sound of two men burglarizing her home.

The woman got up and went to a room in the home where she heard a loud banging noise and discovered two men, one of whom was holding her laptop computer, according to a police report.

When she confronted the two men, one burglar dropped her computer and both men fled the home on foot. Police had not made any arrests in the case at press time and are investigating the incident.

Woman’s purse snatched, recovered

Three unknown men snatched a woman’s purse in the first block of Wallace Street on Wednesday evening, according to a police report.

The woman told police she was walking down the street, the three men approached her and one of them told her to give them her purse as they grabbed it from her.

The woman was unharmed.

Police canvassed the neighborhood and interviewed possible witnesses who said they saw at least one of the men running away from the area.

Officers later found the purse on Graphic Street. A gold band ring valued at $200, along with the woman’s driver’s license had been removed.

The incident is under investigation.

Driver reports gas siphoning

A delivery driver called police early Wednesday morning after he discovered someone was trying to siphon gasoline from his work truck.

The driver told police that someone was trying to steal the gasoline just before he arrived and found a rubber hose and gasoline can adjacent to the truck.

A police officer collected the hose and gasoline can for disposal and said in his report there were no leads to pursue the case.

Thefts, burglaries

• A Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone was taken from a convenience store Saturday on Whitesville Road after its owner left it on the counter. Survellience footage shows a man picking the phone up and handing it to another man who put it in his pocket. The woman disconnected the phone’s service.

• A 42-inch television, an air rifle and between $2,000 and $5,000 worth of jewelry were reported stolen in a burglary in the 1100 block of Juniper Street on Wednesday.

• A 30-inch stove valued at $450 was taken from a residence under renovation Wednesday in the 900 block of Arizona Street.
