A 29-year-old Mitchell Avenue man was arrested Monday on charges of battery under the Family Violence Act.

The man’s girlfriend told police she and the man were arguing in the afternoon when she said she was going to call the police. The man allegedly jumped on top of the woman on a couch and took her mobile phone while she tried to call 911. During the struggle, the mobile phone struck the woman, causing a minor injury to her lip.

The woman left the home and went to the police station to file a report. When police went to interview the man, he allegedly admitted his involvement in the struggle. He was arrested, charged with battery and interfering with a 911 call.

Stolen equipment recovered

Construction equipment allegedly stolen from Atlanta was found at a residence in the 900 block of Youngs Mill Road using location-tracking technology on Monday.

An employee of an Atlanta company that rented the Bobcat-brand earth mover to a construction company used GPS to locate it after it was stolen from a job site in Fulton County.

Officers contacted the owner of the home where the equipment was located. The homeowner told police he’d purchased it at a location on Camp Creek Parkway in Fulton County. The man told police he had no idea the property was stolen.

The company that owns the equipment repossessed it and the incident is under investigation.

Laurel Ridge Avenue home burglarized

A witness told police she heard a loud noise Monday afternoon and a group of what sounded to be several men outside. She was unable to provide a physical description to police.

The incident is under investigation.
