Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday afternoon they charged a former convenience store worker with financial transaction card fraud, theft of a financial transaction card and theft under $1,500.

According to TCSO Chief Investigators Mike Caldwell, the employee — identified as Tavon Copeland, 22, of Troup County — allegedly took money from the Money Back store at 4630 Hamilton Road.

Investigators allege Copeland also took a customer’s financial card.

Copeland was booked into the Troup County Jail. He has posted bond.
