Accident investigation
Officers with the LaGrange police traffic unit continue to look into a crash that seriously injured a 22-year-old woman just after 2 a.m. Thursday morning on Hamilton Road near Keyes Street.
The woman was driving south on Hamilton Road in a 2006 Nissan Altima when she struck a tree, causing the car to overturn, said police.
The driver suffered a serious head injury and was airlifted to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.
Her condition as of Friday morning was “unsatisfactory,” according to Sgt. Del Armstrong.
Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
Shots fired at home
A woman called LaGrange police to her home in the 1300 block of Forrest Avenue about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday after finding a bullet hole in her bedroom wall.
The homeowner told officers she heard three gunshots Monday about 7:30 p.m. while she was standing in the backyard. She immediately jumped in her car and left the scene, she stated.
The woman said she did not report the incident at that time because “she was afraid.”
When the woman later returned home, she found the bullet hole and said her brother actually found the bullet, but threw it in the trash, according to the police report.
Police are investigating the incident.
Shoplifting
A woman was arrested Wednesday about 3:15 p.m. after she was captured on surveillance cameras inside the JK Food Store at 1109 New Franklin Road stealing alcohol from the business.
The theft actually occurred on Saturday, but the woman returned to the store and the owner immediately recognized her and called LaGrange police.
The video showed the woman take a half-gallon bottle of Paul Mason liquor, go into a back corner of the store and conceal it in her purse, according to the police report. She then grabbed a box of Tequila and repeated the same action.
The value of the alcohol was estimated at about $125.
