Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two people in connection with several breaking and entering into vehicles and thefts.

Dylan Anthony Dutton, 21, and Taren Hope Fomby, 17, both of LaGrange, were taken into custody on Tuesday, stated investigators. They are accused of breaking into cars and stealing firearms out of the vehicles.

Fight at LaGrange High School

A juvenile complaint was filed against a teen at LaGrange High School on Monday about 3:20 p.m. after he allegedly punched another student in the face multiple times.

A school administrator who witnessed the incident told LaGrange police a teen walked up to the other student, “squared up” and began striking the teen with his hands. The administrator said the victim did not fight back, according to the police report.

The suspect told officers he was upset with the victim over a girl they mutually liked, the report stated.

The victim had a swollen left cheek, police said. The victim’s mother stated she wanted to press charges against the other teen.

Police wrote a the suspect a citation that will also be submitted to the Troup County Juvenile Justice system and took him home.

Night deposit disappears

An employee at the LaGrange Mall told police on Monday that one of the store’s daily deposits has gone missing.

She said the money has not been deposited into an account at the PNC bank. The deposit, worth an estimated $809, was to be turned in on Aug. 9 by an associate, the police report stated.

Both the store and the bank are conducting separate investigations to locate the missing funds.

LPD helps family in need

A call for a fight in progress on Monday about 5:20 p.m. led two LaGrange Police officers to help a family in a tough financial situation.

A husband and wife were arguing about money problems outside a home in the 600 block of Arthur Street when someone called police.

The pair relocated to their home in the 100 block of Edgewood Avenue where officers Joshua Clower and Kyle Campbell later found them.

While there, the officers noticed the condition of the home and asked the couple if they had any food or supplies for their two children, ages 1 year old and 2 months old, the report stated.

The woman told Campbell and Clower the family did not have a lot of food and she had less than five diapers for each child.

The two men rounded up some food items stocked in their patrol cars and at the LaGrange Police Department for the family.

Officer Campbell also went and purchased diapers for the children.
