Man charged with breaking into car

LaGrange police charged a man suspected of breaking in to a car in the parking lot of IHOP at 1513 Lafayette Parkway on Friday night.
A person said he saw the suspect, identified as Dion Hart, 46, of LaGrange, around his car and the victim then discovered items missing from inside. The stolen items were found nearby in trashcans, where the victim alleged he saw Hart dump them.
Police investigated and officers arrested Hart, charging him with entering an automobile.

Woman flees with children in van
A woman faces several charges after she allegedly fled officers in her car on Friday night with two sleeping children who weren’t wearing seat belts in the back seat.
The woman was charged with reckless driving, fleeing officers, driving without headlights, driving uninsured, expired tag, having unrestrained children in a vehicle and failure of parental responsibility. Police said she fled from officers at the Super 8 motel on Patillo Road to the Holiday Inn Express at 205 Cotton Road, driving recklessly and without her headlights on.
The woman was taken to Troup County Jail and the children’s grandparents were called to pick up the children, according to the police report of the incident.
Card fraud
A LaGrange man reported Saturday someone charged $800 in transactions to his bank card.
Fake bill
A woman tried to pay for a candy bar and soda with a fake $100 bill at Dollar Tree, 137 Commerce Ave., the cashier reported. The clerk said when she refused to give the fake bill back to the customer, the woman fled. Police were investigating.
