Dog found covered in tar

A LaGrange Police officer discovered a poodle – mix dog walking along Hogansville Road with a tar – like substance smeared on its face and body.

The animal was found about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, according to a police report.

The tarry material was not obstructing the dog’s ability to eat or breathe, a report stated.

The dog was turned over to the LaGrange-Troup County Animal Control.

Arrangements were made to have the animal looked at by a veterinarian.

Utility vehicle stolen from Granger Park

A LaGrange High School coach reported on Monday about 1:15 p.m. a John Deere Gator utility vehicle was missing from a storage facility at Granger Park.

The coach told LaGrange Police the vehicle is usually stored inside a shed and was last seen there on Oct. 29, according to a police report.

Other LPD officers who heard the dispatch call remembered a similar vehicle was found abandoned in some woods off Springdale Drive a few days ago, the report stated. It was placed in a LPD holding bay.

Officers determined the vehicle was the same one reported missing from Granger Park.

The estimated value was $2,000.

Equipment stolen from apartment complex

An employee of the Hilltop Apartments at 1364 Mooty Bridge Road reported someone broke into the maintenance shed and stole several items.

The employee told LaGrange Police the burglary happened sometime between Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 7 at 8:45 a.m.

A new Toro push mower with bagger, a industrial pressure washer and various tools were stolen from the shed, according to the report.

The employee estimated the total value of items stolen was $1,500.

Tires, rims stolen from dealership

An employee of Nissan of LaGrange claimed a set of four tires and rims were stolen off their secondary car lot at 224 Commerce Avenue.

The employee said the theft happened sometime between Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. and Monday at 8:15 a.m., according to the report.

The tires and rims were taken off a white, 2015 Nissan Altima and valued around $1,649.
