More than $600 stolen from woman’s account
A woman told LaGrange Police an unknown person cashed a fraudulent check using her bank account and routing numbers between Nov. 9 and Monday.
The victim stated the check cleared her account on Monday in the amount of $627.79, a report stated.
She told officers the check was used at one of the local Walmart stores. The check number does not yet exist, she stated in the report.
Detectives with LPD’s criminal investigation section are looking into the case.
Man arrested for drug paraphernalia
A LaGrange police officer tried to arrest a wanted man, but the suspect attempted to get away from him about 11:10 a.m. at the intersection of New Franklin Road and Franklin Street on Tuesday.
The officer was able to quickly capture the man, identified as Danny Keith Lynch, and put him handcuffs, a report stated.
The officer patted Lynch down and discovered a glass smoking device with what appeared to be methamphetamine residue, according to the report.
Lynch was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.
The man also had arrest warrants issued for failure to appear and simple battery under the Family Violence Act, the report stated.
He was taken to the Troup County Jail.
A man claimed someone stole his TV in a matter of seven minutes while he walked out of his home in the 100 block of Mitchell Avenue about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim said the burglar(s) took a 40-inch LG LCD TV from his bedroom, the report said.
The man told LaGrange police officers he left to check on his cousin and left his front door unlocked for no more than seven minutes, according to the report.
The estimated value of the TV was $400.
