Man throws ax at neighbors
Two teenage brothers called 911 to report a neighbor swung an ax at them outside their home in the 100 block of West Meadow Way Drive just after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The brothers told LaGrange police the neighbor was riding his bike in front of their car. The two men admitted to officers they called the neighbor names, according to the report.
The neighbor threw rocks at their car then allegedly went back to his house, grabbed an ax and swung it at the victims, the report stated.
The ax hit the front porch of the home where the two brothers were standing, a report said.
The teens then reportedly tackled their neighbor to disarm him, punching him several times, according to the police report.
The neighbor allegedly bit one of the brothers on the arm, the report stated.
The neighbor told police the brothers’ started honking their horn at him while he was on his bicycle and threatened to run him over. He said he swung the ax at them to “scare them,” according to the police report.
LaGrange Police officers spoke with both sets of parents and the boys involved in the incident. They advised the three boys to stay away from each other, the report stated.
The case was then cleared.
Burglary
A man returned to his home in the 200 block of North Lewis Street about 6:20 a.m. on Thursday and discovered someone broke into the residence.
The suspect(s) ransacked the victim’s home and stole a 60-inch flat screen TV, a PlayStation 3, a PlayStation4, a .38 caliber revolver and a.22 caliber revolver.
The value of the items was estimated around $1,275.
Fraud
- A man told LaGrange Police someone used his bankcard without his authorization and withdrew hundreds of dollars from his account.
The victim told officers he lost his wallet about a week ago, the report stated.
That same day, someone fraudulently withdrew $500 from his account, the victim said.
Police are investigating.
- A woman told LaGrange Police on Thursday someone obtained a debit card with her name on it and withdrew money from her account at an unknown ATM on Hamilton Street.
The victim said she believes the debit card was sent to her previous address and someone activated it, according to the report.
The alleged perpetrator withdrew more than $142 from her account.
