Angry customer shatters store display case

Public Safety Reports

An employee with the Bombay store inside the LaGrange Mall told police officers a customer damaged part of the business just after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The employee said the man was angered after being told he could not exchange a baseball hat, according to the police report.

The customer allegedly walked out of the store, pushed over a boot display and shoved a glass jewelry case off the counter, the employee told LaGrange police.

The glass case shattered and caused an estimated $500 in damages, the report stated.

Police are looking for the suspect.

Laundry mat dryers damaged

The owner of Lynx Laundry Mat at 408 Daniel Street said a man damaged several pieces of equipment in an attempt to take money.

LaGrange police officers watched the man via surveillance footage try and extract money from at least four washers and dryers, a report stated.

The suspect also used a rock to break open one of the coin boxes, police said.

The man was unsuccessful in retrieving any money.

LPD officers were able to identify the suspect, arrested and charged him with criminal trespass – a misdemeanor.

Store theft

The manager of the Summit Food Store at 1908 Hamilton Road called LaGrange police on Tuesday after discovering there was money missing from the business.

She told officers she reviewed paperwork and discovered the register tally came up short and there was money missing from the safe, the report stated.

The manager and LPD officers watched surveillance video from inside the business and noticed an employee stuff $350 dollars in cash in his pockets, along with a candy bar, cigarillo and a bag of candy.

Police are investigating.
