Youths allegedly fire gun in street

LaGrange police are searching for three young males accused of firing at least two gunshots in the 1200 block of Lindsey Street just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

A homeowner told police someone knocked at his door and when he opened it, he spotted the three youths standing down the street.

The man said one of the teens was attempting to put a round in the chamber of a gun, according to the police report.

The homeowner said as he ran to his neighbor’s home, he heard to two gunshots behind him, the report stated.

LPD officers did find one shell casing where the youths were said to be standing in the street, the report said.

Police are investigating.

Animal cruelty

Officers with the LaGrange-Troup County Animal Control office discovered an emaciated pit bull and four puppies behind a home in the 800 block of Truitt Avenue around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to officers, the large dog was illegally tethered to a porch.

The dog was so emaciated, the animal’s ribs, hip bones and vertebrae were clearly visible, the report stated.

Officers removed the dogs from the home and took them to animal control.

Theft

A man claimed someone stole parts from two utility trailers parked at Lynarc Welding at 2169 Greenville Road between Dec. 23 and Jan. 3.

The victim told LaGrange police three tires, 12 grease hubs, two chains and 56 lug nuts were taken off the trailers, the report stated

The total value was estimated about $664.
