Casi Allison Smythe, 32, passed away peacefully at West Georgia Hospice after a two month stay at UAB fighting a rare encephalitis.  She continued to shine for Jesus through it all.

Casi was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on December 20, 1984, and moved to LaGrange with her family in 1990.  She graduated from LaGrange High School in 2003.

Casi will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God and spent her entire life finding the positive in everyone and every situation.  She was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square and was active in the Tom Farr Sunday School Class, Adult Choir, and volunteered each day in the Childrens’ Ministry or Main Office of the church.  She also was very diligent in her daily bible study and attended Explorers Bible Study each Tuesday.  Casi loved to read her Bible, memorize scripture, and spend time with others.  She always had a twinkle in her eyes, a smile on her face, and she loved to laugh.  She loved to listen to contemporary Christian music all the time and sang solos at church when she was younger.  She internalized each song and it was beautiful to watch her sing in the Adult Choir.

Casi was preceded in death by her biological mother, Sarah Cason Smythe, who passed away when Casi was 10 months old.  Both sets of her biological grandparents are also in heaven, now rejoicing with Casi.

Casi is survived by her parents Bob and Beth Smythe, her brother Drew and sister-in-law Katie, and niece Charlee.  Casi was a spectacular aunt to Charlee, always wanting to play with or read to her.

Other surviving relatives include her grandparents Jack and Wilma Ellis and J. Y. and Margaret Davis, Beth’s parents, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, January 27, 2017 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Casi’s Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, January 28, 2017 at First Baptist Church on the Square, followed by interment at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.
