Thief allegedly grabs phone from woman’s hands

A woman attempting to sell her phone to a potential buyer instead had it snatched from her hands just after 2:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Lincoln Street.

The victim told LaGrange police she was contacted by a person wanting to buy her iPhone 6s through the app letgo.com.

The woman and the buyer agreed to meet near the Coleman Center and Troup County Department of Driver Services off Lincoln Street, according to the police report.

The buyer approached the victim and asked her to turn on the cellphone to make sure it worked, the report stated.

As the woman was turning on the phone, the man allegedly reached through the driver’s side window of her car and snatched the phone from her hand, LaGrange Police said.

The man then took off on foot towards the Department of Driver Services, according to the report.

The iPhone was valued at $500.

Police are investigating.

Burglaries

*One man arrived home to discover someone broke into his home in the 500 block of Ware Street on Wednesday.

The homeowner told LaGrange police the burglary happened sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. that same day.

Officers noticed the alleged suspect(s) kicked in the front door and ransacked the residence, according to the report.

The victim said two flat screen T.V.s, an Xbox gaming system and six Xbox games were taken from the home.

The estimated value of all the items was estimated at $3,160.

*A woman told LaGrange police someone broke into her home in the 200 block of Niles Street on Wednesday.

The victim said a 47-inch flat screen television was missing from the house, according to the report.

The television was valued at $450.
