Dear Editor,

As a member of Troup Together, I want to express my sincere thanks to the paper for the editorial published this past Saturday. That was the bookend to the very moving, reflective, and wonderful event that took place on Thursday the 26 of January 2017 at Warren Temple United Methodist Church.

That editorial was the missing therapeutic ingredient to the healing process spurred by the courageous acts of our city leaders, namely, the Mayor, the Chief of Police, the Judge, and the College President to shape a brighter future for all the residents of our wonderful city.

Each and every printed word was golden. Rest assured, the sentiments expressed were well received by many in the community, (and the family), as we are seeking to restore trust and foster reconciliation among all people.

The LDN is a very potent and important force within the community. Together with people of good will within the citizenry, we can eradicate the hatred vestiges of a painful and lingering past that still dehumanizes some people and promotes hatred and division, as we seek to address the single most pressing question that all people of faith must answer, “What does the Lord require of us?”

Just as the 8^th century prophet Micah confronted the children of Israel with this timeless and altogether binding question, we, in the digital age, cannot but embrace and abide by the trifold biblical answer: “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

Thank you for being at the avant-garde of race relations by your courageous stand. May the Almighty God grant us all peace and grace on this side of eternity, as we navigate our way in this present time. May it be so.
