Wanted man arrested in police lobby

A man attempting to have a criminal background check run at the LaGrange Police Department on Wednesday quickly found out he was wanted by investigators.
Police administration discovered the man, identified as Antonio Tyquez Reed, 18, was the main suspect in an alleged burglary case, according to the report.
A LPD investigator met Reed in the lobby, handcuffed and searched him, the report stated.
The investigator found a Terrier One .32 caliber revolver and two small bags of a substance believed to be marijuana in Reed’s waistband and pockets, the report read.
The 18-year-old was taken to a LPD interview room where he allegedly proceeded to punch a hole in the wall, tore the carpet, yelled and threw chairs around the room, according to the report.
Reed refused to speak with the investigator and was taken to the Troup County Jail.
LPD charged Reed with criminal interference with government property, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana – all felonies.
Teens allegedly beat up neighbor
A 16-year-old girl claimed she was hit repeatedly by another teen outside her home in the 300 block of Boston Drive around 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
The two girls allegedly had an argument at school earlier in the day, the report stated.
The victim told LaGrange police the girl came to her home with several other teens. When she attempted to step back inside her house, the teen allegedly pulled her onto the front porch and began punching her, according to the report.
The girl then reportedly pulled the victim down the front steps by her hair, the report said. That caused the victim to hit her head on the porch steps and railing.
LPD officers noticed the victim had scrapes and bruises all over her arms, face, head, lower back and rib cage, the report said.
Officers were not able to locate the alleged perpetrator of the beating as of Wednesday night.
Burglary
A family reported someone broke into their home in the 100 block of Cherry Valley Drive on Wednesday.
The burglar(s) allegedly stole $400 in cash, a gold bracelet and two gold necklaces were taken from the house, according to the police report.
The jewelry was worth $5,000.
Theft
An employee of a business at 601 Broad Street told LaGrange police her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was in another room on Wednesday.
The wallet contained debit and credit cards, plus $160 in cash, the report stated.
The wallet was valued at $200.
