Child pornography found at middle school

The LaGrange Police Department has launched an investigation at Gardner Newman Middle School after a nude photograph of a student was discovered on another student’s cell phone.

The incident was reported on Monday to the School Resource Officer, who then called LPD investigators, according to Sgt. William Nelson.

The student in the picture appears to have sent it to the other student, Nelson stated.

School officials found out about the photo after overhearing some children talking about it, said Nelson.

The LPD Internet Crimes Against Children unit is overseeing the investigation.

Damaged businesses

 

  • The owner of Famous Brand Uniforms at 1605 Vernon Road discovered the glass on the front door of her business was shattered about 10 a.m. on Monday.

The cash drawer was moved and a rack of clothing pushed over, but nothing was taken, according to the report.

LaGrange police officers discovered a large piece of concrete sitting on the floor in the business, the report stated.

 

  • LaGrange police discovered the front door to Fatdaddy’s located at 1310 Hogansville Road was shattered when they responded to the business’ alarm just after 3 a.m. on Monday.

Officers found a large piece of gravel inside restaurant, the report stated.

The owner estimated the cost of repairs was about $800.
