A Troup High School student was arrested Friday for bringing a knife to campus.

Destiny Nicole Pickett, 17, was taken into custody by a school resource officer after allegedly admitting she brought the weapon to school.

Pickett was charged with carrying a weapon within a school safety zone – which is a felony, according to the police report.

The teen reportedly handed off the knife to another student while waiting in the front office. Pickett admitted to the SRO she passed it off because she knew she was about to be checked for weapons, the report stated.

Administrators retrieved the knife from the other student, according to the report.

Pickett allegedly brought the weapon to school because she was mad at another student, the report stated.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Pickett was taken to the Troup County Jail.
