Man killed by falling tree limb

A 69-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon in the 600 block of Wilburn Avenue while helping another man cut a tree limb.
A coworker told police he was on a ladder cutting a tree branch when the limb suddenly shifted. The victim was reportedly standing below the branch when it fell, according to LPD officers.
LaGrange police officers and detectives started CPR on the man until first responders arrived, the report stated. The victim died at the scene.
Men with guns burst into home
A woman told LaGrange police two masked men armed with handguns barged into her friend’s apartment in the 400 block of Park Place just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
The men allegedly pointed their weapons at the woman and told her they were looking for someone named “Bro,” according to the police report. The two suspects then searched the apartment and left. They did not take any items, the report stated.
Police are investigating.
Former employee allegedly steals money from store
The manager of the Circle K convenience store at 1503 Lafayette Parkway believes one of her employees stole hundreds of dollars from a register and a safe.
The manager said Saturday was the last time the employee worked – and her register was allegedly short $309, the report stated.
The employee was also seen on video surveillance taking $100 dollar bills from the safe, according to the police report.
The manager told LaGrange police officers she believes the former employee stole at least $600.
A coworker claimed to see the employee Saturday night playing the slot machines in an Alabama casino, the report said.
Police issued a theft by taking arrest warrant for the former employee.
Entering autos in Applebee’s parking lot
Two employees at the Applebee’s restaurant at 1524 Lafayette Parkway each found their cars were broken into during the evening hours on Wednesday.
A woman told LaGrange police someone smashed out the driver’s side rear window and stole her purse, $200 in cash and several debit and credit cards.
A man said his passenger side window was busted out, the police report stated. He told officers someone stole the change cup from inside his truck which contained about $85.
