Public Safety Reports
One driver’s early morning fast food run to the Krystal’s at 144 Commerce Avenue ended early Sunday morning with a trip to the Troup County jail.
The man stumbled from his car into the restaurant, ordered his food and sat down at a table – next to two LaGrange police officers, the report stated.
The officers immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man and noticed he could barely sit up in the restaurant chair.
The two LPD officers asked the driver to step outside where they conducted a series of physical assessments, according to the report. The man failed the field sobriety test and blew a .18 into the portable breathalyzer.
The driver was arrested and charged with DUI – Less Safe.
DUI
A second man suspected of driving under the influence also made a trip to the Troup County Jail early Sunday morning.
A LaGrange police officer spotted a car with no headlights on, traveling eastbound on Lafayette Parkway just after 12:30 a.m., according to the report. The driver was allegedly swerving across the roadway.
When the officer stopped the car and approached the driver he smelled a strong odor of alcohol, the report stated. The officer also spotted an open bottle of beer inside the vehicle.
The driver failed a field sobriety test and blew a .13 into the portable breathalyzer, officers said.
The man was arrested and charged with DUI – per se, DUI – less safe, driving while unlicensed, failure to maintain lane and open container.
Business damaged
An employee called 911 when he discovered someone threw a rock into his work place located in the 1100 block of Whitesville Street.
The rock smashed through a double paned window and landed on the floor of the business, according to the police report.
Nothing was reported stolen.
The employee estimated it would cost the store more than $500 to repair the window.
Police are investigating.
