Dead body discovered in Walmart parking lot

Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department are piecing together the circumstances surrounding a dead body found in the parking lot of the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 955 Lafayette Parkway.

The body was discovered just before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The deceased person, who has not been identified, was reportedly found inside a car.

Investigators did not release the cause of death.

Battery

One man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend and hiding her car about 1 a.m. on Thursday.

The woman told LaGrange police when she attempted to speak to her boyfriend in front of a home in the 400 block of Brown Street, he grabbed her by the neck and the ran from the area.

According to the victim, the man took her house key and her car. He reportedly refused to tell the woman where he parked her vehicle, the report stated.

Officer’s noticed blood on the side of the woman’s neck.

The man returned to the scene. Officers’ smelled a strong odor of alcohol on his person and found the house key inside one of his pockets, the report said.

LaGrange police arrested the man and charged him with battery – under the Family Violence Act.

The woman’s car was discovered by officers a short time later. It was parked behind a home in the 600 block of Smoot Street.

Unlicensed teen crashes car, parent issued citation

A 15-year-old girl was hurt after she allegedly lost control of her car and hit a wall in the 300 block of Hammett Road just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The teen’s mother was a passenger in the car and told LaGrange police officers she did not realize her daughter did not have a license.

The mother stated her daughter drove off the roadway and hit the brick wall, according to the report.

The teen had injuries to her upper and bottom lip, the report stated. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The damage to the brick wall was estimated to be more than $500, the report said.

LaGrange police officers cited the mother for allowing another (person) to violate state laws.
