Public Safety Reports

A woman told LaGrange police someone stole $600 from her when she walked away from an ATM machine to use the bathroom.

The incident happened at the BB&T bank at 310 Broad Street around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

The victim claimed she took a taxi to the ATM and inserted her debit card to withdraw the cash, the report said.

While waiting for the machine to process the transaction, the woman decided to go around the corner of the building to use the bathroom, according to the report.

She told police when she walked back to the ATM, the money was gone. The victim showed officers a transaction receipt that proved she withdrew the cash, the report said.

The cab driver allegedly told officers she did not see anyone take the money.

Police are investigating.

Woman found wandering inside homes

LaGrange Police are trying to help a woman who continues to wander in and out of people’s homes in the 300 block of Springdale Drive.

One homeowner told officers she walked out of her bedroom around 11 a.m. on Wednesday and found the woman standing in her hallway.

The victim said when she tried to talk to the strange woman, she could not understand her, the report stated.

The homeowner told the woman to leave her home. She also noted all the screens were removed from the windows on her residence, the report read.

A second neighbor told police the woman knocked on her door and asked to buy her house – though it was not up for sale.

A third man said he came home as the unknown drifter was burglarizing his house, the report said.

He called 911 and the woman left the scene.

LPD officers issued a criminal trespass warning for the woman and believe they can help her through the Mental Health Court program.
