Stephen A. Palmer, Sr.

Stephen A. Palmer, Sr., 83, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at his home. Mr. Palmer was born December 7, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, son of the late Anthony V. and Philomena Pecchio Palmer. He was a 1962 graduate of Youngstown State University, and was a member of the Faternity Sigma Tau Gamma. Mr. Palmer had an exceptional award winning career in the Rubber and Plastic Industry, as a Rubber Application Chemist for 38 years. After retirement, he was briefly employed with Publix in the meat department. Mr. Palmer was a 16 year liver transplant survivor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Menosky.

Born and raised a Catholic, he always worked strongly with the church, beginning with the Holy Name Society and then the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights and started the 4th Degree Assembly #3276 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in LaGrange, where he was a member for the past 16 years. Mr. Palmer also volunteered to work with various groups like St. Vincet de Paul and ushering.

Mr. Palmer proudly served his country, joining the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, originally serving as a Jet Fighter Mechanic, then working on B-36 Bombers and KC-97 Tankers.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Nancy Lea Clark Palmer; his children, Tony (Sondra) Palmer, Ruth (Jim) Outman, and Stephen (Patti) Palmer Jr.; grandchildren, Sean (Kelly) Outman, Stephanie (Alex) Doty, Theresa (John) Robinson, Beth (Travis) Milner, Annie Outman, Stephen (Macey, fiance’) Palmer, Anthony (Jesika) Palmer, Nancy Palmer, Emily (Mitch) Andrews, and Donnie (Hollie) Palmer; 15 great grandchildren, with one to soon arrive; a sister, Theresa Ann Menosky; also nieces, nephews, several cousins.

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with the Rosary being said at 6:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am Thursday, June 8, 2017, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in LaGrange with Father Patrick Scully officiating. Burial will be Monday, June 12, 2017, in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mayo Clinic, the Boys Town Nebraska or St. Vincet de Paul in memory of Stephen A. Palmer, Sr.
