Starbucks coming to downtown

The Courtyard by Marriott in downtown LaGrange will have a 24-hour Starbucks open to the public when the hotel opens in late 2017.

Paramount Hospitality is over the hotel chain, and according to Paramount office manager Sarah Trillo, the coffee shop will be available to the public 24-7. The Starbucks will be run by the workers at the bistro in the hotel. According to Trillo, when the bistro is closed the Starbucks will be run by the hotel staff.

“We do not have people at the Starbucks. If there’s no one there, our front desk is also trained to take care of the Starbucks as well,” Trillo said.

Trillo said that they will not be able to make and serve Frappuccinos, because it will not be a full Starbucks, but they will still serve iced coffee.

Additionally, the coffee shop will not sell all of the baked foods served at full stores, Trillo said.

“We don’t have everything that Starbucks has,” she said. “There are a few different baked goods.”

Trillo said the store also does not accept account payments or gift cards.

“While it is Starbucks and we offer the Starbucks products, the way you have to pay is not the same,” she said. “You have to use personal payment.”

While it will not a full Starbucks, Trillo said the the coffee shop will be convenient for everyone in downtown LaGrange.

“I think it will be just convenience, if someone is at work and they just need a pick-me-up, they can walk right over to the Courtyard, go inside and get a coffee if they just need something to kind of get themselves moving again,” Trillo said.

The hotel will also include a putting green, a splash pad and a 10-foot long fire pit for guests.

“Lafayette Square is beautiful,” Lakha said. “We’re going to be the first full-service hotel in downtown LaGrange. We’ll be able to cater to the folks looking for a different experience.”

According to the release, the hotel will feature 90 rooms, two meeting rooms, a full service bar and a restaurant called The Bistro which will be open for breakfast and dinner.
