Possible arson occurs at rental house on Horace King St.

An alleged arson occurred at a vacant rental house at 509 Horace King Street Sunday around 9:34 a.m., according to a press release by the LaGrange Police Department. LaGrange Police Department Sgt. William Nelson said the fire was reported by neighbors who saw smoke coming from the house. According to the LPD press release, the LaGrange Fire Department found flames coming from a rear door of the house and extinguished the fire. According to the LPD report, a firefighter found the point of origin to be a utility closet that was only accessible from the back of the house, and all utilities were cut off. The damage is estimated to be $10,000.
Woman shoplifted over $1,800 worth of items from Walmart
A woman allegedly shoplifted $1,806.67 worth of merchandise from the Walmart on New Franklin Road Friday morning. According to the police report, the store’s loss prevention officer said a woman entered the store around 6 a.m. and took products out of their packages and concealed them in a stolen book bag. The female left the store, put the items in her silver vehicle and then came back in again and took more merchandise before finally leaving. Items stolen include a black book bag, three Straight Talk Samsung phones, a tablet, a blue tooth speaker, a wiring kit and a box cutter.
Woman robbed, knocked unconscious outside house
A woman was allegedly robbed and knocked unconscious outside her home on the 200 block of Starmount Drive Saturday evening. According to the police report, the woman checked her mail and began walking around the side of her house when she saw a man standing by the fence. She said the man pushed her to the ground, knocking her unconscious. When she came to, she noticed her purse was stolen.
