More than 20 cats removed from apartment

More than 20 cats were removed from an apartment by the LaGrange Police Department and the Troup County Marshal’s Office at the 800 block of Mona Lane Wednesday around 1:38 p.m.
According to the police report, officers responded to a call of possible animal cruelty.
One of the residents said there was nothing wrong with the cats and invited the officers inside.
Officers noticed the apartment was covered in trash, building material, carpet, beer bottles and cat feces was scattered throughout the residence.
When asked about how many cats they owned, one of the residents said they had 12, according to the police report.
An officer counted 26 cats in the apartment.
An officer called the marshal’s office to help pick up the cats, according to the police report.
One of the residents told police he collected all of the cats since September 2017.
According to the police report, all but four cats were confiscated. The four ran into a hole in the ceiling and were unable to be taken. One of the residents agreed to cleaning his apartment to keep the four.
The animals were taken to the shelter. One of the residents was cited with two counts of cruelty to animals.
A house was allegedly burglarized and more than $130 worth of items were taken at Barnard Avenue between Tuesday around 10:50 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 a.m.
The homeowner told police that when she came back to the residence, the back porch light bulb was unscrewed and her back window was broken out.
The homeowner said cabinets and drawers in the house were open and looked rummaged through.
Items taken included a Chrome Notebook valued at $119 and $20 worth of loose coins that were in a jar.
A vehicle was scratched and had two tires punctured at the Whispering Pine Apartments on Hogansville Road between Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. and Thursday at 4:45 a.m. According to the police report, two passenger side tires were flattened and scratch marks were on all sides of the vehicle.
Wheels stolen off of vehicle
All four tires were allegedly stolen from a 2013 Nissan Altima at The Auction Way lot on Hogansville Road between Friday at 3 p.m. and Wednesday. The vehicle was valued at $1,500, according to the police report.
