Is city being prudent with proposed skate plaza?

Concerning the city’s proposed skate plaza, in a recent LDN article, the Parks and Rec director was applauding the plan. He failed to mention that Parks and Rec used to have a skateboard park themselves, but due to only a very few unsavory individuals loitering at the skateboard park, they soon demolished it.
I believe this is not a project that is putting money to the best use, nor one that will serve many local taxpayers. I believe that it will be like buying a pool table; one will use it for a while until the new wears off and the use it to store items on.
I have a picture of a portion of a skateboard park in Bay Minette, AL. I pass by it at least once a month.
I have never seen a skater at the park. If you look closely at the photo you can see some go to it. Gang graffiti is painted on every piece of equipment.
Of course, we do not have any gangs in America’s Greatest Little City.
A similar empty skateboard park can be found at the Gulf Shores, Alabama rec center. Perhaps by our local officials referring to the proposed skateboard park as a “Skate Plaza,” things will be different.
