Ms. Gayle Beedy Lasco

Gayle Beedy Lasco, 78, of LaGrange, Georgia, went to her eternal home on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at her residence.

Ms. Lasco was born June 29, 1940, in Kankakee County, Illinois, to the late Verner Howard Beedy and Isabel Yankus Beedy. She was raised on the family farm, Ash Grove Dairy, in Manteno, Illinois and graduated from Maine Township High School in Des Plaines, Illinois, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Ms. Lasco moved to LaGrange, Georgia, in the 1980s and worked for Milliken’s Elm City Plant until her retirement. She was a devoted member of East LaGrange Baptist Church where she worked as the church secretary and produced the church bulletin for many years and also was a past-president of the LaGrange Business Girls League.  She was a breast cancer survivor and supported the Susan G Komen Foundation.

In most recent years, Gayle lived at Vernon Woods Retirement Community and enjoyed the various activities of traveling, coloring, playing cards and any events where her grandnephew and niece could participate. Everyone described her as a loyal friend and a total joy to be around.

Gayle is survived by her brother Jim (Hertha) Beedy; niece, Jennifer (Dave) Beedy Booker; nephew, Christopher (Page) Beedy; grandnephews, Trae Booker and Augustus Beedy and a grandniece, Katherine Booker. She is also survived by a step-nephew, Christopher Moore; his grandmother and special friend, Clyde Moore and former sister-in-law and dear friend, Mellody Hartelius-Reaves.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Bobby Robinson and the Rev. Billy Allen officiating. Burial will be held at noon on Friday, March 16, in Elmwood Cemetery in Manteno, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gayle’s memory to American Heart Association, American Lung Association and Susan G. Komen.
