The LaGrange Woman’s Club held its annual barbecue fundraiser and sold more tickets than ever before Wednesday at Bellevue. Club Trustee Kathren Fogg said they have held the fundraiser for more than ten years.

Fogg said they usually sell 250 tickets a year, but sold around 400 this year.

Barbecue chairman Judy Bledsoe said they got the food from Hog Heaven and assembled the plates. People have ordered the plates for over a month and anyone who bought one could have it delivered or go pick it up.

“We had so much fun making deliveries this year because we would walk up to the door, and people would say ‘the barbeque is here,’” Fogg said. “It was like you got this great welcome when you came with the barbeque. So, the delivery part, component of it is a big draw I think.”

The event was held to help pay for the upkeep of Bellevue. Fogg said the costs for Bellevue include electricity, plumbing, heating and that a sump pump at the home needed to be replaced.

Bledsoe said the house was repainted in October and the funds also help with the landscape and maintaining Bellevue’s parking lot.

“We appreciate the help of the community supporting us,” Bledsoe said.
