Spring has sprung, and to interest the next generation of gardeners, Hills & Dales Estate will hold Children’s Storytime in the Garden Saturday morning. Author Linda Copeland will read “Bitsy’s Happy Bouquet” and children will plant marigolds to take home at the estate’s pool terrace at 10 a.m.

Lauren Clark, director of marketing and communications, said this is the first time they have done the event.

“Ms. Copeland agreed to do a workshop this year, and we thought if the weather was nice it would be fun to do outside,” Clark said. “It’s gardening focused, so it fits in with what we do here.”

Clark said it is the perfect time of the year to see the garden at the estate on a Saturday morning.

“We are talking to and inviting the next generation of preservationists to the estate to try to somewhat plant the seed for a love of gardening with these kids,” Clark said.

If you’d rather start Easter egg hunting, the LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society and LaGrange Animal Shelter will hold its hunt at 11 a.m. There will be 1,000 eggs filled with toys and treats for children to find. The shelter is located at 1390 Orchard Hill Road.

The Hogansville Police Department will hold its egg hunt at Hogansville Elementary School at 9 a.m. The Easter Bunny will be there for pictures.

If you ride a motorcycle and want to go for a nice ride this weekend, the Blue Knights Georgia Chapter XVIII will sponsor the fifth annual benefit ride for CASA Troup County Saturday. The ride starts at the LaGrange Elks Lodge and Jeeps are welcome for the ride. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the ride starts at 11 a.m. The cost is $25 per rider and $5 per passenger.

The Lafayette Theatre Academy will perform “The Last Queen of Wonderland” at the Lafayette Society for Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Saturday This will be the show’s last performance.
