Relay for Life is an important cause

Dear Editor,
I have lived in this community my whole life and have always admired how we always come together to help someone in need, but I was very disappointed in our small town this past Friday night for the lack of support for the Relay for Life.
It was very disheartening to see so many empty spots where tents normally are and so few people there to show their love and support for the survivors of a terrible disease that I know has affected everyone in this community one way or another.
From my understanding, there was a concert that same night and for those of you who would normally be at Relay chose to go there vs. Relay shame on you!
I feel so strongly about this because cancer has hit my family many times, and when your sister, at the age of 42, is diagnosed with cancer, it changes things.
So again, I want to say I am ashamed of the citizens of this town, and I challenge you for next year if you have a choice in participating in Relay or going to a concert or anything else that is not as important as Relay, I hope you make the right choice.
