LETTER TO THE EDITOR: ER wait times at WellStar are unreasonable

Dear Editor,

What in the world has happened to our local hospital?

West Georgia Medical Center used to be a hospital that we were proud of, a place the community relied on for professional and curtesy health care. The merger with WellStar has not brought any positive changes. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Wait times in the emergency room have increased to unrealistic wait times. It’d be easier to see the most popular, qualified physician in LaGrange with no appointment than to attempt to get proper service and attention at Well Star West Georgia Medical Center.

The compassion and concern of doctors for their patients has also gone. We used to have doctors that were part of our community, that we attended church with, whose children went to school with our children. Doctors who cared! Now the doctors can hardly be understood and spend no time explaining your problem or answering questions.

Now, let me give an lot of credit to the nurses. These are the true people who hold this hospital together. They always go above and beyond what you expect from nurses. Always showing care and compassion!

Jerry Fulks needs to get out of his office and come down to the ER and visit, talk with patients. This is a business after all, and we are the customers.

Newnan hospital reports an increase of patients from LaGrange, and that’s sad. Why can’t West Georgia Medical Center go back to caring about the patients as much as we care about them?
