A 37-year-old man was arrested Sunday for allegedly entering a house on the 1900 block of Youngs Mill Road while a resident was inside. According to a Troup County Sheriff’s Office press release, the resident was in his home when he heard a noise and found Leslie Roshunn Smith in his home.

The resident yelled at Smith, and he left. According to the press release, both LaGrange police and TCSO officers responded at 4:36 p.m. LPD officers found Smith walking near the residence.

“Speaking with them, he told them he got lost walking in the area and forced entry,” said TCSO Sgt. Stewart Smith. “We really don’t know any further than that of why he was in the area or what he was doing trying to break in the house.”

According to the press release, while officers were speaking with Smith, LaGrange police located Cody Pruitt, 28, who was sitting in a car near Youngs Mill Road and Old Youngs Mill Road. Pruitt told police that he and Smith were at the area to fish and also smoked marijuana.

After searching Pruitt’s vehicle, police found a bait container that had a small amount of suspected marijuana and a pill container that had a small amount of suspected burnt marijuana.

According to the press release, Smith was charged with burglary. According to Troup Count Jail arrest/release reports, Pruitt was charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
