Law enforcement will have a chance to interact with the community next week at the LaGrange Police Department’s National Night Out. The third annual event will host games for children in addition to having static displays from multiple law enforcement agencies.
“I know we’ll have our burn trailer there where kids can go in and learn how to get out of their house if it’s on fire,” LPD Senior Officer Jim Davison said.
There will be a dunk tank for children to dunk police officers or firefighters and a train ride, Davison said.
Medical groups and churches will also have displays set up.
“It’s basically bringing the community together for crime prevention and drug prevention,” Davison said. “It’s like a giant city neighborhood watch.”
Davison said the event is free and all groups participating are giving away items, including away gift cards.
“It brings the community together and it lets people see and understand what public safety agencies do and how we operate what we do, the kind of equipment we use,” Davison said.
National Night Out will be held Tuesday at 110 Commerce Avenue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
