Man arrested after using hammer in robbery attempt

A man was arrested after attempting to rob a Summit Store on Vernon Road with a hammer Sunday night. According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, Ravon Woods approached a store clerk with a hammer wrapped in a bag, said it was a gun and demanded money.
“The clerk realized it was [a hammer], and chased him out of the store with a bat,” said LPD Sgt. Robert Kirby. “Officers made contact with a guy down the street. He took off running and they caught up with him again at a house, and placed him under arrest for criminal attempt armed robbery.”
Woods is charged with criminal attempt armed robbery.
The same Summit gas station was robbed on Dec. 23, 2018.
