VALLEY — A Valley man has been charged with attempted murder and several additional counts for shooting a shotgun into a crowd of people on Thursday, according to a news release from the Valley Police Department.

Hezekia Randal Terran Morgan, 19, is charged with four counts of attempted murder, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle and shooting into an unoccupied dwelling.

According to police, at about 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Combs Street due to shots being fired. Upon arrival, victims and witnesses told officers that Morgan was the shooter and he ran into the woods.

One of the victims, Jacob Duke, told officers Morgan approached him and his friends when an altercation ensued. During the conflict, Duke told police Morgan pointed a pistol at him and threatened to kill him. Another struggled happened, and the gun was taken from Morgan by the group. Police say Morgan was able to break free and run away.

According to the news release, a short time later, Brandon and Shanna Osteen, along with their two children, came to the residence when Morgan reappeared with a shotgun and began shooting at the group of people.

During the shooting, the Osteen’s grabbed their children and ran out of the line of fire. As Duke ran toward Morgan, police say the shooter ran into the wood.

According to the news release, there were no injuries, but a vehicle and house sustained damage from gunfire.

Eventually, police say Morgan was located by officers in the backyard of a residence nearby the shooting. 

He was arrested and taken to EAMC-Lanier for treatment of his injuries.

When he was released from the hospital, he was taken into custody by Valley officers and booked into the Chambers County Detention Facility.
