TCSO recovers out-of-state stolen vehicle

A Florida man was arrested Tuesday when Troup County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him sleeping in a vehicle that was reported stolen.

On Tuesday, around 4:02 a.m., TCSO deputies responded to reports of a vehicle sitting in the median of Interstate 85 Northbound near mile marker 24, according to the press release.

A Florida man was arrested Tuesday when Troup County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him sleeping in a vehicle that was reported stolen.

On Tuesday, around 4:02 a.m., TCSO deputies responded to reports of a vehicle sitting in the median of Interstate 85 Northbound near mile marker 24, according to the press release.

Upon arriving at the location, deputies reportedly observed a grey 2015 Ford Expedition with an Alabama tag, which had the engine running. 

The lights were on, and a white male, later identified as Shannon Jordan of Tallahassee, Florida, appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat, according to the press release.

As the deputy attempted to wake the driver up, he was reportedly informed through the 911 dispatcher that the vehicle was possibly stolen from Foley, Alabama.

 Jordan was charged with theft by receiving stolen property (felony). 

The Foley, Alabama, Police Department was contacted regarding the arrest and recovery of the vehicle, according to the press release.
