Two men were arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to break into vehicles at the Sun Ridge Apartments.

The LaGrange Police Department responded to the apartments after loitering in the parking lot.

“The callers gave very specific details about what was happening,” said LPD Detective Milton Ligon. “Once officers arrived and questioned the subjects, they did not give a reason for being there.”

Officers were notified that Devin Morris, 19, and Preston Jones, 20, were pulling on door handles of vehicles in attempt to enter them and steal valuables.

“One of them admitted to breaking into the cars,” Ligon said. “They were riding around all night looking for other areas and autos to break into.”

Both Jones and Morris were arrested for 10 counts of criminal attempt entering an auto and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

Ligon said that officers are still investigating the situation and attempting to track down some of the locations that the two suspects were breaking in at.

If anyone has any information about this incident, they are asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at (706) 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
