The LaGrange Police Department responded to shots fired in the area of the 100 block of Starmount Drive Wednesday night.

According to LPD Sgt. William Nelson, LPD received another call Thursday morning from the victim, who had shots fired into his house the previous night. The 53-year-old victim told officers that at approximately 9:30 p.m. he heard noises coming from the back of his home.

According to Nelson, the victim told officers he thought someone was trying to get into the home so he shouted at them.

“The suspects fled the scene and shot at the home several times before driving away,” Nelson said.

A press release from LPD described the vehicle as a white-colored car.

“The victim gave us a few possible ideas on why this incident occurred, but nothing that we can release at this time,” Nelson said. “We are looking into why it could have happened.”

Nelson said that area is not one where there are typically a lot of shooting calls. The victim was not injured during the incident. The Criminal Investigation Section responded to the scene and started an investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at (706) 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
