Rev. Charles Wesley Chapman, Sr., of LaGrange, passed away on Jan. 2, 2021. 

Rev. Chapman was born in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Clifford Lamar Chapman and Beulah Poteet Chapman. 

Rev. Chapman proudly served our country in the United States Navy.  After his service in the Navy, Rev. Chapman attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple University.

He was also honored with a Doctorate Degree from Victory Baptist Church.

Rev. Chapman retired from Faith Baptist Church after serving 29 years as their pastor.  Rev. Chapman also served as Chaplain for the City of LaGrange Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol for many years.

Rev. Chapman is survived by his wife, Faye Layfield Chapman; son, Charles Wesley “Chuck” Chapman Jr. (Deborah); daughter, Kimberly C. Herren (Scott); brother, Tommy Chapman (Gail); sister, Ann Dodson; grandchildren, Joshua Steven Ham (Hanna), Jeremy Michael Ham (Haley), Charles Wesley “Chaz” Chapman, III, Cameron Reese Chapman; great-grandchildren; Dawson Ham, Barrett Ham; step-children, Skyler and Tyler Herren; extended family and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Faith Baptist Church.  Rev. Brandon Brooks will officiate assisted by many of the ministerial staff that served with Rev. Chapman.  Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens.  Family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until service hour.  The service will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/higginslagrangechapel.  Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand, 506 Hill Street, LaGrange, 706-884-5626.
