Owen Cobb Holleran, Jr., 91, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Holleran was born July 28, 1929, in LaGrange, son of the late Owen Cobb Holleran and Adeline Linoah Amstutz Holleran.  He was a 1948 graduate of The Manlius School, Manlius, New York and the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York in 1952.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Anthea Adeline Holleran and Nancy Christine Jenkins.

Mr. Holleran served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Viet Nam as an Infantry Officer and was twice awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, and numerous service medals.  After service at numerous posts in the United States and Germany, Mr. Holleran retired as a civilian employee of the Army at the Pentagon after 38 years of Federal service.  Returning to LaGrange in 1987, Mr. Holleran was associated with the Chattahoochee Valley Art Museum/LaGrange Art Museum for 21 years as Curator of Collections.

Mr. Holleran was a member and past vice president of the Troup County Sportsman Club, a member of the Army and Navy Club, Washington, DC, the Army-Navy Country Club, Arlington VA, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a volunteer instructor for the Department of Natural Resources’ Hunter Education Program for many years.  He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a Verger, Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Vestry member.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bobbie Anne Smith Holleran of LaGrange; son, Michael Holleran (Vicki) of Burke, Virginia; daughter, Anne Simpson (Stacy) of Catlett, VA; grandsons, Ryan Holleran (Lizzy) and Cody Jenkins; granddaughters, Courtney Holleran and Samantha Wilfong (Justin); great granddaughter, Autumn Wilfong; great grandson, Justin Wilfong, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Hillview East Cemetery with The Reverend R. Allen Pruitt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the LaGrange Art Museum, or a favorite Charity.
